They are probably junk. Run a hone through them. If you can't get rid of the scarring, replace them. New cylinders are not that expensive and will save you a lot of wasted time and effort.

Easiest way to get the pistons out is with a short shot of air into the bleeder valve opening. Unless you can give it a short controlled blast, be prepared for the pistons to come flying out. Use a heavy towel to control the pistons and catch the fluid. Stay out of the line of fire.

Once one piston is out, push the other one out from the inside using a dowel or something similar.
