Hey, I love Dodges, at least the old ones. However, I will take a 7.3 Powerstroke Ford any day, over a Dodge/Cummins. Here is why.
I have owned 18 of the 3/4 ton/1 ton Powerstrokes, and 5 of the Dodge Cummins. The Ford will be running way after the Dodge is in it's grave. The Cummins engine is great. The trans. in the Dodges from the early 2000's are not durable from the factory. Sure, you can upgrade them for tons of $$$. The bodies are flimsy, and the interiors fall apart in the Texas heat. The front ends are not too great either in rough use.
The late 90's and early 2000's Ford Powerstrokes are just about indestructible. My current one has 317,000 miles and has never had any serious engine problems. It has spent it's life pulling trailers, and is only on it's 2nd transmission. The first one lasted 225,000 miles.
The interior cleans up like new, although it has always been a work truck hauling crews to and from jobs. The dash has only one small crack. (When was the last time you saw an early 2000's dodge pickup with an intact dash????)
Like I said,t he only thing good about the Dodge pickups was the Cummins, and they have pretty well ruined that now.
Ok, you could not give me any ford Powerstroke after the 2003 1/2 model year, I will give you that.
