It's the same as figuring out all the other wiring on the truck. Sit down with the diagram. Figure out where the electricity comes from and where it goes. Then check at each point to see if the electricity has gotten there. Make sure you understand the flow and that you have gotten all the wires connected correctly.
All you need is a cheap circuit tester.
If I were you, I would stick the tester in the flasher connection to see if it is getting power. If not, I'd go back to the turn signal switch to see if it is getting power in.
