It gets all curly. It makes the cable a PITA to handle ever after. Won't lay flat on the spool, etc.

I guess I don't see any reason why the pully rule does not apply to fairleads.

Personally, I LIKE the WWII 6-8" snacks block. I lately picked on up for $20 at teh swap meet. Patina, but no wear.
