6bt in a FFPW (?)

I'm thinking about a 6bt in my '51 Gerstenslager ambulance. I understand that the fire wall would need a bit of hacking to get it done Dimensionally, are the 4bt and 6bt the same or similar as far as the rear of the engine is concerned? Is the extra length that accommodates the 2 extra cylinders added to the front of the engine? Is the 6bt taller, which necessitates needing to cut the fire wall?
I have heard many of you speak of 4bt's in FFPW's, but have not heard much about the 6bt
