The pinion seal is leaking, when I had the truck down to the frame, I replaced both pinion seals as a precaution. I know rebuilding them has no effect on a leaking seal. I am slinging oil all over the back of the truck as I drive due to the leak. I have wanted 4:89s since I got the truck, and more now that I drive it and see that it doesnt allow a few more mph, and around here everything is drive and would like a few more mph. I plan on driving this truck almost daily.
I figured since I would be replacing the seal in this one, or speedy sleeving it, since I have another set, I would rebuild it as they have been sitting out in the weather for some time and are rusted and would not work in the condition they are in.

The options are, remove this one and fix it, and keep the gears, the truck is down while I do that. Or, rebuild the other set, with all new everything due to their current condition, and when they are done, in an hour swap both out and the truck isnt down for much time and I can start driving again. I realize one has nothing to do with the other, its just a situation of, as long as Im doing this I may as well do that.
