No doubt that the 230 water pump will interchange with the 251 engine but my problem is and was Chrysler's problem they had to deal with was how to fit the fan connected to the WP to fit in the smaller space between the radiator coere and the block since the 251 block is 2 inches longer than the 230. Thier remedy was a redesigned water pump for the WM300/M601.
