Sounds like the stuff recommended in my 7U cat manual for the track rollers. It's a thick oil or thin grease that you pump in with a special bucket called a "volume compressor". I don't know about the rest of the zerks, but in a way it makes more sense for the steering knuckles than the #2 grease we typically use today. Even #1 grease is thicker than the old "semi-fluid" stuff.
