My Oxy/Fuel Gas torch is only used for heating/bending and brazing. My plasma is the tool of choice. Its quick, precision, much less heat in adjacent areas, no molten slag falling, just fine powder like material. And the kerf is very small.

I have a Thermal Dynamics 80XL. It will cut 1.5" and sever 1.875", yet it will go down to thin stock with the twist of a knob. Buy the heaviest capacity you can afford. You never know what you will want to cut in the future. Make one purchase, and you will save money in the long run.

Buy a name brand, one that you can buy consumables for easily.

You wont buy much of a Plasma Torch for $800,
good ones, name brands, heavy capacity cost $$$
