I have been wanting a plasma cutter for some time. Most of the cutting I currently do is rusty frames etc, getting them diced up for the scrapper. Occasionally I do some fabrication or repair work so I figure it would also be great for that. I have used one, once, and that is my total experience. I have read up on them a bit so have a general picture.
So, if you had a rusty old frame to cut up, would you reach for your oxy-acetylene torch, or your plasma cutter? Why?
I've got to believe a plasma is a lot less expensive to run than the blue wrench!
I would want a 220 model, with good thickness capability. Eastwood has one, for around $800, but I suspect you are paying a premium for their name.
Another question, I dont mind buying used. Often get a much bigger bang for the buck. Is buying an older plasma like buying an older computer? Not looking for a DOS computer, or a DOS plasma cutter!
So, edumacate me please!
Thanks,
Tim
