So today I went to O'Reilleys and bought a new inner cable for my speedometer cable. I brazed the cracks in the sheath near the end that mounts to the transfer case in hopes of stopping the leaks. While the transfer case was out, I reinstalled the cable and was able to get it a lot tighter than Ive ever been able to before. And it has the home made gasket in it to hopefully help.
And I must say, the most recently best spent 90 bucks was a transmission adapter I bought when I finally broke down and bought a new jack. I bought a 3 1/2 ton from O'Reillys for 189 on sale. And then the adapter. The saddle comes out of the jack and the adapter site right in the hole. Made removing and reinstalling the transfer case literally a 5 minute job, had it out in nothin flat and back in in the same mount of time.
So its back in, drive lines are back in, and speedo cable hooked up to speedo. Tomorrow is the test, I plan on drivin it on all my errands tomorrow. See if it leaks, make sure the intermediate shaft clears the crossmember, and see if the speedo works any better. First place to go is a place to have them check the generator, then to pick up one of the bed sides from the body shop
