The two wires each go to one end of the resistance (85 ohm), and the float contact goes to ground.
I think it would be tough to get that second wire to connect to the resistance in a universal sender. Not impossible, just tough.
Might be easier to buy a $20 universal, strip it down,, built it back up around a $1 100 ohm potentiometer? A day of tinkering, and $21, vs $150? Oh well, enough though exercise for one day, back to pounding out stainless steel.
