Thats a great feeling when problems are figured out. About the same thing happened to me after spending a long time on the restoration and everything was done. I was going to take the truck to town the longest trip to town 4 miles. I got in and it would start idle and quit so I wonder what the problem could be. I looked in the carb grabed the linkagge and gave it a pull and gas squirted so I know it was getting fuel So I checked spark and it seamed ok but I replaced points and condenser tryied again and still the same. So I thought maybe timming may have jumped so I pulled the plugs and checked the timming and it was right on and compression was good. Then I figured must be not getting enough fuel so I poured a little down the carb it would still start idle then quit tham I pulled the line off the fuel pump and aimed it into a gallon can rolled the engin over and plenty of gas came out.Now I figured I was getting nowhere I know the carb was rebuilt but that must be the problem so I pulled the carb and found the spring had broken on the govenor that sits under the carb and the blades were staying shut not letting air or fuel into the engine. I replaced the govenor and that fixed the problems. all I could say was(Oh Happy Day) When it was finally fixed and running again.
