One of the local metal suppliers had a bin full of odd copper pieces, 1/8" thick. I figured they sheared them up on purpose for the welders. Sold by the pound.
You also might use knockouts from electrical boxes to fill most of the round hole area.
Weld them up, grind them down, skim with bondo.
