Big problem in Afghanistan is the weight of the MRAP's on unimproved roads,especially when they are driven next to a canal. We have had troops drown when the road gave way and the MRAP fell into a canal.
The good thing is we are selling lots of these to other countries. Only two plants here in the U.S. have the ability to produce the steel for the armor plate.
MRAP is the name for a class of vehicle. There are several different manufacturers. MRAP type vehicles were first used in Rhodesia during the war there.
