Even the real OEM Chrysler filter is a very snug fit, assuming that you are talking about the FFPW. The others filters I have tried were tight too.
I got one filter from VPW that they advised to unwrap the sock and take out some of the media.
I use a block of wood to push in the media. It's going to be very firmly packed. If there is just too much, I would take out some of the media.
