This one was never converted and the insulation is fried.
You can easily measure the diameter and ohm resistance of the heating wire in the gauge. Then, on Ebay, they sell insulated resistance wire with the diameter and ohms per foot specified.
Somebody should be able to do this. Maybe, not me. The early six volt gauges seem pretty rare.
