Well, from what I've read, there is a difference between Civilian and Military tires in chemical formulas & rubber compounds. The Civilian tire life is rated at 6 years. The Military tire life is rated at indefinate, only to be replaced when the tire becomes undesireable.

Must be some truth to that since the oldest 11R16 XL I have mounted on my truck was made (03/47) and looks the same as one made in (04/01). Yep, we can debate it all day long, and I've carried 3,000 pound loads, and tomorrow, it may all fall apart, but today it still looks and functions good.

Don't try this at home.
