Mine was actually 6 months, I had disassembled the entire winch and put new seals and a new shift shaft in the winch. When I removed the winch the yoke was pretty stuck on the winch input shaft so when I reassembled I thoroughly greased everything. All that said I used the same brand of grease (not cheap by the way) in the front wheel bearings which failed within a year due to water contamination, I have since switched brands. I think the grease was not very good with water, not a good choice for my useage.

I believe most older vehicles designed before the accountants took over the automakers were very well built and that engineers back then took a lot of pride in what they were building. However I enjoy trying to improve upon things whenever I can, sometime just to see if I can.
