doc - the maintainers see the battery until it drops below say three volts. at that number, and again, i am unsure why, the charger / maintainer doesn't sense a battery to be charged. i have saved a few optimas from recycling this way. the best thing to do with an optima or any battery is to make sure whatever it is connected to does not slow drain the battery. those battery terminal connectors with the green knob are useful to prevent the slow drain on batteries and as a bonus, you remove the knob to slow down an unauthorized user...
