Bought my PW in '94. Previous owner had installed 350 w/ turbo 350 auto trans. He had moved cross member that transfer case mounts to, back the same amount that the drive shafts differ in length- then swapped them. This gave more room to install fabricated intermediate drive shaft leaving all other drive train orig. Got the truck in drivable cond. I'm a truck mechanic by trade, so when I felt the rumble/ vibe under hard accell I first ck'd driveline angles and shaft phase- all ok. Went thru same issues as you- but with less patience as this was my daily driver (for 8 years/year round), until I thought of the support rod in 1996. Let's not get into how I anchored to the transfer case. Let's just say I was young-it was dumb and the fact it held for 6 more years w/out breaking or damaging the transfer case proves God must love me, and my truck.
