Yeah, hinged at the top. It has a latch on the bottom in the center, but not the crank out mechanism like a civilian Power Wagon. It has sliding brackets on the side with a knurled nut on each side to lock it in position. Hint: without a rubber washer between the knurled nuts and the sliding bracket, vibrations will loosen the nuts every 1/4 mile of driving or so. They fold all the way out to near horizontal position.
