Thanks for the help so far. To answer a few questions posed- Oil pressure is good, around 65# hot. Valvetrain was oiling well after rebuild, although I haven't checked it again. Noise is definitely from front of engine. I thought of fuel pump(but noise isn't like bad pump), but hadn't thought of eccentric. I did not put new one on when I rebuilt engine.
Engine was rebuilt about 3 years ago, but is typical project car-has been only driven around 75 miles since.Started making this noise(like creaking rubber or slipping belt)last fall when I put car away, but I just thought it was a bad belt then.
I guess my next move will be to pull the fuel pump and try to look at the eccentric. Will probably end up pulling front cover next. I still love the poly engine.
