In the south we don't have much concern about ice and snow worthy tire treads but, after reading your post I realize I am some what handicapped by that lack of knowledge if by chance and for whatever reason I might ever need to drive up noth during the winter. Could you yanks possibly post some pics of what you consider "good or adequit" snow and ice treads ? In the early 80s I lived in leadville,CO. it was dry powder type snow with lots of "black ice" spots after it had been driven on awhile and most folks used studded tires or chains. The best all around 4x4 tire I've found for the south was called the sidewinder and scatrac both having the same identical tread design, one is made by general tire. They do not whine on the road ,and handle mud and rain as well as the light snow we get. Its not the best for the sticky red gumbo clay you can get into down here but otherwise it is the best priced all-around 4x4 tire I've used.
