Use only brake fluid or alcohol to clean any brake fluid wetted parts. Petroleum based products will swell rubber parts and make the whole system unusable. Just keep filling the master cylinder with fresh fluid and pump it out the lines until it flows out clean. Brake fluid is cheap compared to the consequences. Or replace the steel lines, again, relatively inexpensive compared to an accident.
