I agree the small block unit would require a pump swap, but there may be an alternative. See if they list one for a 71 W200 or 300 with a 383. The lower hose is on the left just like older small blocks. You may have to fiddle with the upper hose since it's very near the center. Another benefit is that it's larger than a 318 unit. Good luck
