I purchased a '93 Intercooled Cummins 3/4 ton Club Cab 4wd with the 5 speed Getrag at 102k miles last November. Sweet truck! I recently put the Banks Engineering kit on. I have been keeping meticulous fuel records for the last 15,000 miles. My mileage went from 19.4 to 21.1 after the Banks kit. I know the engine breathes better, but I think the biggest part of the increase comes from watching the Turbo Boost guage and not getting my foot into it as heavy. I am waiting on the wastegate turbine housing to arrive. My mileage will probably go back down, because it will be so much fun to feel that POWER!
I have been talking to a couple of outfits about upgrading to a New Venture 5600 6-speed. The Getrag is an adequate tranny, but there's too big a gap between 2nd & 3rd, especially when downshifting. The result is a tendancy to lug the engine in third. I also would like a little more OD in 5th for running unloaded, but I can't complain about 50 to 70 mph in about 6.7 seconds as she sits! Wheeeoow!
