Thanks. That model T belt-drive pump sounds like a good idea. I think I found the problem on my system, though I'm still puzzled. Basically the radiator was only half full of water because the filler neck is only half way to the top of the radiator. The radiator's only about 8" tall and the air is blown up through it by a squirrel-cage blower (weird system!). The tubes run front-to-back. I've just been assuming it was right since it looks like an original factory setup, but I took and drilled a hole in the radiator cap and soldered an 8" piece of copper pipe into it so I can fill the radiator to the top and it seems to work okay, though I haven't put a heavy load on it yet. Stuck a cork in the pipe for pressure relief. I'll probably never know why the filler neck is so low.
