I never did a compassion of the NP-420 and NP-435 side by side. I was ratehr upset after all the work putting in the NP-420. I had a NP-435 with 352 Bi-directional PTO. I yanked out the 420 and stuffed in the 435. She fit well and worked. I was not about to pull it out to get good measurements. The 420 was sold quickly.
