Mill the 265's head .060", get a two-barrel intake, split the exhaust from 2-into-1-into-2 (six-cylinders with straight dual exhaust sounds stupid), add an electric fan and toss in a set of 4.89 gears. It'd run 65 all day long, and the horsepower gain will be substantial. Before my 360 swap, I milled my 230's head, added a two-barrel, built an electronic distributor for it, plus threw an electric fan and alternator on it. It ran a HECK of a lot better. That should've been good enough, but nooo. The numerous things I've done in order to make it more daily-driver material just keep taking the originality out of the truck. I have a '54 that all of the '50s parts are going on to, for safekeeping. By the time the '50 is done, I am sure I'll drive it once and take it all back off of it to go back to stock, now. Infatuation is nice, but it passes. Been there before.
