Okay, today I hoisted out the radiator, shell and radiator bracket from my truck.. A while ago I had this new radiator core modified ( top tank rotated 180* and inlet tub moved to the center of the top tank). It looks like, based on the 251 water pump configuration with the intake on the left side as compared with the old 230 water pump, I will have to move the lower radiator tank hose to the the left side to match the water pump! Also, the alternator pulley is 11/2 inched recessed from the plane of the water pump pulley! I either will have to modify the alternator bracket on the lower side of the block or find a new alternator pulley that extends out the distance to be in line with the water pump. Now lastly, I need a 251 crankshaft pulley to pair with the water pump pulley. After all this is done then I will figure the grille extension solution. whew!
