the black box will be used to charge a per mile tax. since the new cars buy less fuel, they pay less highway tax per mile. an unintended consequence. the govt is estimating that switching to a per mile tax will increase taxes by 250%. they will weight it towards truckers, who will bear the brunt of the taxes and the shippers will pass the costs along to the middle class in the form of higher food and good prices. when you raise taxes on anyone you raise taxes on everyone... all my employees are screaming about the recent tax increase (expiration of ss tax) that hit their paychecks. lots of guys wondering what happened with only taxing the rich...
