I hear a lot of old cars guys complain about fuel going bad, or components like accelerator pumps, floats, and diaphrams going bad. I think most of these issues are with cars that sit for long periods of time. I've never had problems with E10 in tens of thousands of miles driving old cars.

For a car that sits for long periods, I would not argue with using ethnaol-free gas if you prefer. I wouldn't guarantee it will prevent those same problems, but there's no harm in that approach.

For people who want ethanol-free gas for their old cars, I suggest this advice. If your daily driver is a flex fuel vehicle, put E85 in it every chance you get. EPA is seeking to increase the use of renewable fuels. Future goals for ethanol approach 30 billion gallons. That is more than 10% of our gasoline usage. So consuming E85 for new vehicle reduces presusre to put ethanol in every single gallon of gasoline. I predict it will become harder to find ethanol-free gas in the future.

I'm glad for that, becuase I can fix a fuel pump. But I can't fix somebody that got bombed in our fight over imported petroleum.
