I've asked a couple EMTs and my nephew the emt/fire captain, and nobody has ever seen a failed seat belt at any accident. Hmmm, maybe Highway Patrol would have seen some, and not bothered with EMTs? But I've never read it in fatality stats either.

And I've never actually had anybody tell me they changed one as a precaution.

Your critical parts are riding an a bag of dirty water. Bag is hard to make a shock to it's restraint. If the shock/speed is bad enough to break an old belt, you head has probably already popped off and gone rolling down the road.

My goal is to be immortal, and so far so good. But I doubt if old seat belts will be my bane. There's lots of other stuff I worry about first.

ANY seat belt is better then the OE system.
