I agree with others here. I bought a National Detroit DA and didn't use it much at all. For stripping the old paint off, Brite Strip discs worked great for me. On filler I used 80 grit and blocks. Then to slick sand with 150 grit and blocks. Sandable primer was 500 - 600 grit with blocks.

If it were me I'd put your "budget" money into block. I liked the Durablocks the best Use the long ones on the flatter panels and move in this pattern. /////\\\\ I used dry guide coat on the slick Sand stage as you can see the filler stage high and lows by eye.

It's really not that hard, it just takes patience and even strokes. I made sure the metal was REAL close before starting the topcoats which is another patience thing.

You can take it as far as you want.
