I have the same year and model car. 2 years ago the tranny developed a leak. With the repair, my mechanic had to then add fluid and was confronted with the procedure like Desoto mentioned which is the service manual procedure. However, he had a friend who is a tranny technician/mechanic, who told him how to make a dipstick that would work with this tranny and enable you to get the right amount of fluid in without the special sensor tools. It is made out of a piece of thick wire, like a coat hanger. I believe I still have it and can measure it if you would like. I don't recall what the details were about it, but apparently transmission people who work on the Chryslers "know" this trick.
