Not too stupid, but that no one does it regularly and it is not required unless there is a leak, at which point the leak needs repaired anyway (at least as far as the manufacturer is concerned).
Plus the fluid level is based on transmission temperature which you need a scan tool to determine. The procedure in the thread is approximate and will only really show you gross changes.
