Rick it's hard to say without checking myself.
I will take a stab at it, try on your own risk.
The switch with only 2 connections and three positions tells me that one is power in and the other is power out regulated through the resistors.
One position would be full power(Hi) the other runs through the resistor for Low/Medium.
Now for the motor
Is one wire a ground? Our if you "jump" power
to the motor can you make it run at different speeds depending on which wire you choose?
