The Chrysler engines used in Industrial, truck, marine, and Imperial applications typically had the bumps in the valve covers because they had adjustable rockers. The bumps were needed so the adjuster screws wouldn't hit the tins. It's surprising how many old hemis were used in generators, water pumps, and even fire whistles. Despite the fact that the old engines didn't make power like the 426 did, what I like about the 50s hemis is how they were manufactured and machined. Lots of attention to details as far as gasket and seal retention. Definitely a jewel compared to its successors...
