lots of them were used in trucks in the UK. its a british ford motor. i had thought it would make a nice clean install in any truck where a cummins could fit. not as powerful, but they are dead reliable and way cool. as i said before and you confirmed, no electronics, no hassles, no turbo. you should check you injector pump to see if it has the cold weather push button. on mine, there is a button you push in cold weather. it feeds more fuel i believe and the engine fires on the first crank. smoking is usually injectors on these engines. i have a great source for parts if you need. what do you think about an truck install? they rev up to around 2700 rpms, but can run all day at 2450 rpms. funny thing is that it is happy at 2450 pushing my boat or a 42' grand banks...
