(1) I use epoxy as a sealer - If you have a bit of filler , a bit of this and a bit of that sealing the whole thing in a single coat of the same paint makes a lot of sense .
(2) About 20 years back I had a rust problem under neath the epoxy paint . After a lot of back and forth I was told by your favorite paint supplier " Epoxy is not a top coat " Not because of the UV but because some of it has a certain amount of water transfer . We got into electron microscope views of the paint . Urethane makes a great top coat and I am sure there are others . I can not toss the stuff because I react to it and end up sick for days , yes I use the correct equipment - but when i first started messing with the stuff in 72 -78 there was not a lot out there regarding safety equipment .
(3) Epoxy and prepped surfaces - I have some industrial epoxy that States that the paint must go on blasted surface . White being best . I tried cheating with the stuff and it peeled off the cold rolled .... no cross linking to the substraight .

(3) what paint has the best depth , colour hold out and gloss ???????? It is an old one , no longer made , the studies I saw used a reflectivity index of some sort . hard to tell the difference but if you look at a bunch of samples of which paint looks best the old NL one every time .
But given the choice I would top coat with urethane .

When I can find it I use Sikkens , you need a space suit to toss some of their products and I do not think the home driveway is a good idea even if you have the equipment .

Lots of smarts on here regarding paint . I am in the unusual position of getting called in on occasion to check out a vehicle before the top coat goes on . Does not happen often any more but I do get the odd free trip in to the big smoke to do a once over on the odd beast . No more free paint for me ;-( Although a bunch of those mixing can tops with the pour spouts just got dropped off .

still learning stuff
Bruce

now water based ................... i am as dumb as a bag of hammers when it comes to that stuff and i like it that way .
