I took a box - one medium-size box - of trim pieces off my '47 Packard to the guy who does Jay Leno's chrome back about 7 years ago. No bumpers, nothing big, but he quoted me a price of... $10,000.
Almost all of the cost was in the labor to straighten and prepare the metal; the actual immersion was not time-consuming.
The guy did great work, but I found someone who did the job for less than half the price. Which still left me breathless.
