I have been in the welding business for years and we do use a wire lube for the large diameter open arc wires. 7/64 and 1/8". Molibmiumdisulphate powder. Moly is expensive and won't hurt your welding but if your feed rolls, liner defuser or tip is shot the moly won't help. Check all of your wear components, replace them and keep everything clean. Cover the wire when it is not being used to keep the dust off.
