Dangest wood burning shop heater I ever came across was a double 55 gallon barrel affair. One barrel stacked atop of the other as an additional heat chamber. There was a fan that pushed the radiant hot air around the shop. You can buy a do it your self kit from northern hydro licks. This time of year they have a catalogue devoted to just heaters.
The shop was in chama nm and it was cold and snowy all winter long. The shop I'd guess USA about a 40x 60. Heater worked well.
