did you get it with the alternator? I bought one a while back, i believe just the bracket and alternator as my command car was already 12v. it came with a pigtail for the alternator that had a diode installed to make the alternator turn on. i replaced the alternator with one from my truck alt shop that was modified with a low speed cut in and a one wire conversion. simplified wiring and provides ample charging for parades and slow speed driving. i had to mod the bracket when i added power steering from helitool. i used a piece of 1x1" square tubing to space it away from the engine to create good geometry to keep the belt from slipping. i believe if i ever did it again, i would just leave the stock generator bracket in place and get a generator with power steering pump in the back from a tri five chevy. you can have the generator converted to an alternator. keeps the bracketry stock and makes the power steering install cleaner and more 'period' looking.
