The last step of bondo work is to get the surface smoooth. No flats, dips or bumps.

A few tricks I've tried, all require use of a hard sanding block, NOT your fingers. Everdure? Everhard? blocks.:

1)use a light held close to the surface, so you can see shadows.

2)use multiple shades of primer, so you can see when you sand though one.

3) use a spray bottle of paint thinner to gloss up the surface temorarily, so you can see wiggles int the reflections.

4) use finer sand paper than I think. ;^) I work too hard/too fast and end up taking off too much, making flats and dips in the bondo. This is a phase where a pot head or a depressed individual, getting paid hourly, can plod along and end up with a better product than me.

5) Use a high-build primer. Think spray on bondo. The polyester based stuff seems like better build.

Stop in next time you are in town. ;^) I can point out some excellent bad examples.
