If it shuts off the flow to the leaky side, the pedal gets hard as a rock. It only has 1/2 as much 'flex' in half of a system.

Basically, that is a spool valve with a switch contact in the middle. Push to one side, valve shuts off, light comes on.

Or not.

The 'hold off' function is only on disc/drum systems.

What people buy as aftermarket gismos are usually only hold off valves. NOT proportioners. But they call them that. A true proportioning system has to have both front and rear systems plumbed to it.

Put it all together in one unit, it's called a Combination valve.

Or maybe it's just a pressure differential switch.
