Rare as hen's teeth. I spent a couple of weeks looking for one earlier this year. No luck. Pleny of direct 540's out there. I have one or two, don't remember.
My understanding is that the OD 540's were just a little weak, and over the years their ranks have been depleted as unreplaceable shafts broke. The direct 540's are brutally stout, and remain easy to find.
