Gardeners tell me that those bees are really good to have around. I have also had them bore holes in wood (roof soffits) but I think it was starting to rot anyway. Gardeners who want to attract the bees, take a piece of 2x4 or 2x6 and drill lots of holes in it, not quite all the way through, maybe 3/8" diameter, and nail it on the side of a building under the eves somewhere. That might be another solution, rather than killing the bees -- give them a pre-built "home" that they can move into without damaging your building.
