I have built several buildings on my farm, including a barn and two machine sheds/garages where I have my power wagons.
All have been riddled by Carpenter Bees.
I stumbled upon a solution, and thought I would share it here for all who live in the eastern half of the U.S. and Canada and have this problem.
This trap is the slickest thing since sliced bread. I have caught over 100 bees in the last two years with two of these traps. No bait necessary. Much less bees are seen now, and thus significantly less damage to the wood of my buildings.
The traps are pretty simple in design and can be home made, but I took the easiest way and bought them from this place:
